Leonardo's Imagination: KIDS I Bike Safety Program
October 6th Only
CAT (Coalition for Appropriate Transportation) is a non-profit educational charity working for better walking, biking and transit through grass roots community based programs.
At the heart of CAT's advocacy work is the League of American Bicyclist (LAB) Certified BikeEd programs. The LAB BikeEd curriculum has been developed for three distinct age groups:
KIDS I - Safety and a Child’s First Bike (ages 3 - 9)
KIDS II - The Bicycle is a Vehicle, Not a Toy (ages 10 - 15)
Road I - Learn to Cycle Safely Any Where (adults)
The LAB BikeEd offerings are the only nationally recognized bike safety programs in the country. BikeEd is taught by LAB League Certified Instructors in Bethlehem Area School Distract, Northampton Community College and every Saturday morning out of CAT's Bethlehem Bicycle Cooperative in downtown Bethlehem. The LAB's BikeEd program is proven in case study to reduce accidents and injuries to cyclist by 85%.
KIDS I BikeEd will be offered on site Oct 6th for parent's and their child's first bike. This fun and informative program takes 45 - 60 minutes to complete and includes: helmet inspection; bike safety check; a review of the most common injuries to children while biking and hazard avoidance skills course. Children must be accompanied by an adult and will need to bring their own helmet and bicycle. Recommended donation of $10 per family is welcome but not necessary.
For more information please call CAT 610-954-5744.
Additionally, CAT offers used bicycles and parts to teams building kinetic sculptures.
